An excellent, jumping compilation of some of the best of the early 30's recordings made by Cab Calloway for Victor especially covering his first Cotton Club period. This is the no-holds-barred Cab when it comes to scatting and a looser swing from the band coming out of the earlier Missourians. It has the added bonus of some of his sister Blanche's Victor sides which are just as interesting, especially since she came first in the family as an entertainer. Highly recommended. Combine it with any of the Decca/MCA reissues and you have the best of early Cab. (Originally issued on French RCA.)
