This was recorded before the Moody Blues landmark Days Of Future Passed. Go Now, a chart-topper that went to #10 in America in April of 1965, is part of this CD. This is a collection of the type of music a lot of British bands were playing at the time, R&B done the British way. Original Moody Blues members Clint Warwick (Bass), and Denny Laine (Guitar and Vocals), future member of Paul McCartney's Wings, would later be replaced by John Lodge (Bass) and Justin Hayward (Guitar and Vocals) and would become the Moody Blues that would achieve worldwide success. And, by the way, this CD also contains seven bonus tracks for a total of 19 songs. All in all, a very fine recording!!!
This album covers the initial Denny Laine led version of the Moody Blues, the band's name referencing the American soul and r&b influences demonstrated on this, their first album, rather than the overblown "progressive" incarnation of the band people normally associate with this band. Overall a solid effort - I prefer more guitar-based british "mod/beat" orientated music, but this album is in the same general vein (albeit with keyboards) and thus successful on its own terms.
