Put quite simply, this is a great starting point for anyone not entirely familiar with what was one of the top 4 thrash metal bands around in the 1980's. Based in New York City, they were responsible for shifting over 10 million albums worldwide. I hadn't heard them for a while and came across this cd on ebay quite by chance, affording me the opportunity to relive the past without having to shell out a bucketload of cash into the bargain! I knew the band were good but I'd forgotten how good! Listening to old classics such as Armed and Dangerous, Anti Social, the live version of Metal Thrashing Mad and the somewhat humorous Make Me Laugh reminded me just why I liked them, their music exudes enthusiasm and fun, I beleve it's what's known as entertainment! For not a lot of money, you would be buying an album containing 16 tracks from one of the finest thrash bands around. As a representative sample of what Anthrax are capable of it's well worth purchasing and you never know, you may be buying another Anthrax cd (Among the Living or State of Euphoria recommended) before too long. A quality addition to my cd collection and one which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone.Read full review
I saw them live, at the Big Four event, and i'd never heard them before. even before i heard the end of their opening track, i knew that i would love them. Anthrax are a prime example of the phrase "never judge a book by it's cover". "Anthrax" puts into your mind all sorts of black metal, but it puts into your ears good ol' fashoned thrash. Belladonna's voice is incredible, similar to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. The endless riffery is again, incredible, and the mind-bending solos are second to none. Anyone calling themselves a MetalHead must own this album.
this a fantastic cd with all there best tracks. a must have for all true metal fans. if you do not have anything by anthrax then you cant go wrong with this one.
