A young group of teenagers from Jacksonville, Florida formed a band they named "My Backyard" in 1964, and the rest is history. Several years and several name-changes later they would title their group "Lynyrd Skynyrd", a mock tribute to their former high school gym teacher. By the time 1973 rolled around they had attracted the attention of producer Al Kooper, thus being signed to his label and producing one of the greatest Southern Rock albums of all-time that very same year. This is that album. Fantastic guitar work, soulful vocals and with a songwriting style that only a band like Skynyrd could pull off, this album is the epitome of the group's creative genius. Fan favorites such as Tuesday's Gone, Gimme Three Steps, Simple Man, as well as the Southern Rock anthem Free Bird are all among the tracks on this LP. Also included are some rare studio demos and extras that are sure to please listeners. Whether you're a fan of Skynyrd or just Rock n' Roll in general, this is absolutely an album that belongs in your collection.Read full review

This album is the most classic example of southern rock on the planet. It is a history making icon. "Pronounced" is one of the reasons that the band Lynyrd Skynyrd was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It has survived the test of time and is still played on the radio daily, even though it was recorded in 1973. It is a "must have" in the collection of the music conneseur.
What a great beginning for this group. The entire album is good but Things Goin' On and Poison Whisky are my favorites. Of course, Free Bird, is Skynyrds' Stairway to Heaven. Ed King is the Man.
