I already own most of these tracks on vinyl, but I wanted them on CD. Obviously I'm already an ardent fan of Mr.W. and the fact that I bought these tracks again speaks for itself. My only gripe is that there were one or two prsonal favourites not on it, but that's life as the man himself would say! If you've not heared Loudon before, this is a good starting point and I guarantee you will be tempted to buy more material by this very talented but underrated singer-songwriter.
Loudon Wainwright III may now be best known as 'Dad of Martha and Rufus', but his songwriting skills are awesome, touching, and as relevant for today as they were when written. The deceptively simple tunes on this album stick with you. Highlights for me are 'Unhappy anniversary' and 'How old are you?' Long may this troubadour's prodigious output continue.
21 tracks here from an amazing talent. This guy has a unique way of translating his view of the world, life, love and any other topic into song. Personal favourites on this album include Synchronicity and Unhappy Anniversary, but the whole album is on my iPod. This covers his early 1980s output, but the guy has been at it for a long time (some of you may remember him as the guitar playing officer in one series of MASH) so check out other albums.
