With the passing of producer Gene Eugene Jason brought Terry Scott Taylor on board for Leave Here A Stranger. This album has a completely different feel than other Starflyer albums and as much as I hate to say it, next to Americana it's Starflyer's weakest album. Terry incorporates some of the ideas that have worked for him in the past but for some reason those sounds and styles just don't work with Starflyer. Jason may have to take some of the blame as well but regardless, the absence of Gene really shows here. 4 1/2 Stars.
Great pop record with some very stark sound-track influences. Little different then the stuff that Jason Martin started off writing in the early 90'. The fuzzed-out guitars are replaced by simple harmonic piano backgrounds & some very nice front and center string arrangements. Worth checking out for the right price.
I love this bands sound.I hear a lot of 'beatlemorphing' [my term for it]in their ideas.Their sincerity.Exceptional music.
