This CD is a good beginner's overview of THE CALL's work. Having been a fan of theirs since the album MODERN ROMANS, I've been given the opportunity to enjoy their growth as musicians and songsters. Michael Been's vocalizations changed with time from the menacing sound of the earlier albums (up to INTO THE WOODS)to a rounder style from LET THE DAY BEGIN on. This album includes their 'hits' (which they never really had) and a number of other better tunes. The only disappointments for me is that the album is too short and misses some of what I consider their better tunes (Oklahoms, You Run, War Weary World, etc.) Strangely, all of the album SCENE BEYOND DREAMS is absent and yet, a couple of songs from Been's solo album are included. I don't agree with Thom Owens of allmusic.com, this doesn't contain all a casual fan of THE CALL will need. It misses too much really good stuff. Nevertheless, it's an adequate selection of some very good music.Read full review
Somewhat hard title to find at a fair price. Very happy with my purchase.

However, I like all of The Call material so of course I would find it excellent. This CD is for the person who isn't familiar with The Call and wants to hear a sampling of their work. If you don't like this CD, then you won't like any of The Call albums. If on the other hand, you like this CD, then you will love all of their music. It's a shame The Call never received the success they deserved.
