When you are a big time 70's guitar rocker fan like me an album like Radioactive, by Pat Travers is an absolute blowout five star winner. This album is indeed "Radioactive". The CD starts with one of Pat's greatest tune called "New Age Music". The intro guitar, solos and fills are wicked and super tasty. You will not hear this one live, so you must buy the CD. The last song is an instrumental "Electric Detective" that is so very catchy that it is my second favorite on the CD. The 6th tune entitled "Untitled" is one of Pat's hidden gems as he records his famous studio guitar overlays then composes his own keyboard music, like he did on "Crash and Burn". "My Life is on the Line" is a good tune, then come the some sad cry baby love songs where we see a more rhythmic guitar by Travers. Songs like "I Can Love You", "I Just Wanna Live it My Way", "Feeling in Love" and "Play it Like You See It" ( Love the 5 star heck out of that one). The other hard rocking, guitar sizzling, tune is "I Don't Wanna Be Awake" ( Another great guitar tune, hard riffs and much PT Gibson string bending beauties)- That is track number 4 and my third fave on the CD. The song sizzles guitar to the end where Pat says: "I Got Demons Living Inside My Head, Gremlins with Pic Axes Chopping My Mind into Little Tiny Pieces". Buy this one folks and rock yourself back to 1981. Cheers!Read full review
I always loved PT and this album (dating myself?) is a great one. It is very typical of the blues inspired rock PT is known for. This album has two of my favorite PT songs in New Age Music and My Life is on the Line. If you like PT you will love these songs. Electric Detective is also very good as is the Untitled song. The other songs are good too but not quite as strong as those Ive mentioned. Still, I would recommend Radio Active to anyone who loves blues inspired rock! PT is a great guitarist. Enjoy!
