Chilliwack is a Canadian band from the eighties, whose vocal skill, musical composition, and playing prowess are still worthy of a purchase of their stuff. I had Wanna be a Star on record, and when I saw it on CD, well, I cringed. Mostly, American engineers outdo themselves trying to pretty up the old stuff, changing channel data, muting the treble to eliminate tape hiss, and generally making our stuff sound as if a blanket was thrown over the speakers, and then recorded. Fortunately, Canadian engineers remasterd this CD. And folks, it is gnarly, gnashing, straight-up rock and roll, just like I remember it. No remixing, no tinkering with fidelity matters. You owe yourself all of Chilliwack, but ESPECIALLY, this is a gem you should treat yourself to again and again!
This is one of those CDs that you bought for their one commercial hit, only to find the entire album is amazing. Starts out mesmorizing, and quickly pulls you in. Each time you think you will go on to another album, another great song comes up.
This Band is on a level as teens that surpass many from the same era. Great Rock and Roll album with only one bad song---Mister Rock. the rest is all good. Especially My Girl, which became a smash hit in the early 80's.
Excellent
