I bought this album based on the musical 'chops' of Bela Fleck. This was advertised as thd 3rd album in his 'Acoustic Sessions', and I have the other two. I was disappointed in the direction of this album. I find no fault with the musical abilities of the people that Bela chose to include, but I for one did not expect the WHOLE album to be as it is. I would guess that many of Bela's fans will be quite surprised with this album. I, for one, feel that I have wasted my money, because I probably will not play this album again. NOT ENOUGH BELA !!!!!
Bela Fleck is apparently a wonderful person. He is not only an excellent musician but he is appreicative of all kinds of music. This CD compiles the music he recorded on a journey through Africa for a documentary film of the same title. Having seen the film, the CD doesn't seem to capture the warmth of the documentary. It is still pleasant and inspiring to listen too. Bela demonstrated that music is a towering bridge between people and cultures. The Africans immediately accepted and admired him. Mr. Fleck returned the out stretched hand of friendship to them. I am very happy to have this CD in my music library.
