This is the first full-length album by the guitar wiz known as Joe Satriani. It is somewhat different from his other albums, especially in the tones. His guitars have a very unique sound that he didn't really use later on. The production value is also amazing. This is one of the sweetest sounding cds I own. Listen to the song "The Snake" (a cool song that was actually spliced together from discarded tape right before deadline) about half way through and you'll see what I mean (turn it up loud, too!) There are some great songs on this one and gave a glimpse at the amazing things he would do later on. I give this one a four because it is definitely not his best stuff, but some of these songs ("Rubina" "Memories" and "Hordes of Locusts") sound awesome live and it is great to hear the original versions. I really like this cd, but I would recommend that this be bought after someone has become an established fan.Read full review
Same review as Joe Satriani. I love to listen to this dude play. He's so unique. Stands out among all guitarists, even Jimi. That's hard for me to say but it's true. Jimi played mostly blues influenced music and some psych. Joe plays differemt styles from the blues but not any real existing style. He created a whole new style. A whole new world to explore.
My husband is a huge fan of Joe Satriani. He has been listening to him since he was a kid. I myself even enjoy listening to his music. It's almost breath taking! I would recommend ANY of Joe Satriani's CD's. There is always a little something for everyone on his CD's! So just get it, and check it out, Im sure you would not be disappointed!
