In Messico nel 1880 Sara, figlia di un ricco banchiere e Maria, figlia di contadini, si trovano a fronteggiare fianco a fianco Tyler Jackson, rappresentante della New York Bank and Trust, che ha distrutto le loro famiglie per impadronirsi illegalmente delle terre messicane e permettere il prolungamento della ferrovia americana.
